All care home data on MyCareCheck comes from the CQC — the independent regulator of health and social care in England. The CQC regulates registered care homes and publishes ratings where available against five key questions: Is the service safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led?

Current Data Snapshot
The directory currently displays a CQC data snapshot refreshed in July 2026. CQC information can change after that date, so every listing links to the official report. Check CQC and contact the home directly before relying on a rating or practical detail.
CQC currently warns that its move to a new digital system may delay some changes appearing in downloadable care-directory files. This limitation originates with the source data.
Limitations
MyCareCheck covers England only. Care homes in Scotland (Care Inspectorate), Wales (CIW), and Northern Ireland (RQIA) are regulated by different bodies and are not included. We do not include domiciliary (home care) services — only residential and nursing homes.
