Care Quality Commission (CQC)

All care home data on MyCareCheck comes from the CQC — the independent regulator of health and social care in England. The CQC inspects and rates every registered care home against five key questions: Is the service safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led?

What We Include

  • 14,909 care homes across all 9 regions of England
  • CQC ratings across 5 inspection domains (Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, Well-Led)
  • Service types — residential care, nursing care, or both
  • Specialisms — dementia, learning disabilities, mental health, and more
  • Provider information — which organisation runs each home
  • Location data — address, postcode, and coordinates

Update Frequency

CQC publishes updated inspection data regularly. We refresh our database periodically to reflect the latest ratings. However, there may be a short delay between a CQC inspection and the data appearing on MyCareCheck.

Limitations

MyCareCheck covers England only. Care homes in Scotland (Care Inspectorate), Wales (CIW), and Northern Ireland (RQIA) are regulated by different bodies and are not included. We do not include domiciliary (home care) services — only residential and nursing homes.

Disclaimer

MyCareCheck is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the CQC or any government body. We are an independent directory that presents publicly available data in a user-friendly format. Always verify information directly with the care home or the CQC before making decisions.
